About the Role
We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented Accounting Operations Specialist to join our team on a part-time basis (10-15 hours per week). The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the daily accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy of financial data, and contributing to the smooth running of the department. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, a proactive approach to tasks, and the ability to work independently.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate and timely posting of invoices and payments.
Perform weekly/monthly bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records.
Assist in maintaining the general ledger, including journal entries and correcting discrepancies.
Generate financial reports, such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports as needed.
Assist in the preparation of month-end close processes, including reconciliations and review of financial statements.
Communicate and resolve with vendors and clients regarding payment issues or discrepancies.
Support audits and tax filings by preparing necessary documentation and reports.
Performs basic office tasks including answering phones, responding to emails, processing mail, filing, etc.
Other accounting-related duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred).
Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping (2+ years preferred).
Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks preferred).
Experience in nonprofit accounting (preferred).
Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite software.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines.
Working Hours and Compensation:
Part-time position: 10-15 hours per week.
Flexible scheduling available (ideal for work-life balance).
Competitive hourly wage based on experience.
Environment & Physical Demands:
The environment is climate controlled (i.e., heated and air-conditioned). Lighting is adequate through overhead lighting as well as windows and blinds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Physical demands include sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time, bending, lifting approximately 25 pounds, regular use of the telephone, copier, fax and computer. Demands also involve protracted concentration.
